Countdown to the Aldbourne Festive Fun Run

the run starts on 8 December at 3:00pm

After two fantastic summer 5K events in 2017 and 2018, we’re thrilled to have a brand new event for you to take part in this year.

Our festive 3K event will take place in Aldbourne on Saturday 8th December at 3pm and is the perfect fun event for runners of all abilities. Why not join us for what promises to be a fantastic run?

Why do it?

This 3km run will give you something to aim for and you can take part with family and friends! It is a great opportunity to get involved in a really inclusive sporting event. Even easier than the 5K but with added festive fancy dress!

Will it be fun?

Of course it will! Festive fancy dress, a crowd of happy runners and edible medals for all runners. And the pleasure of running a 3K course around our gorgeous rural village.

What will it cost?

Tickets will cost £5 each (child or adult).
You don’t need any expensive kit – you can wear anything you want – the more festive the better!

Views of the Ridgeway panorama stretching for miles ahead.

The run will start and finish at St Michael’s School, on the new running track. At 2.45pm a local celebrity has kindly offered to cut the ribbon to celebrate the grand opening of the school’s new all-weather running track, the brass band will be playing carols and there will a throughly festive atmosphere afoot!

Don your tinsel / Christmas jumper / reindeer antlers or whatever Christmassy fancy dress appeals and get ready on the start line for 3pm.

After leaving the school, the 3km route takes you round the village of Aldbourne on the quiet streets, before returning to the school for a last lap of the running track. If kids are running we’d be grateful if they are accompanied by an adult if under the age of 16.

The whole route is great for experienced runners, novices and especially pushchairs!

Even if you don't want to run, you can help us raise funds for the school.

What are the proceeds going towards?

All proceeds from the race will go to St Michael’s C of E (Aided) School in Aldbourne.  We are incredibly lucky to have such an outstanding primary school in the village but there is always a need for fundraising to add to its facilities and as well as finishing paying off our amazing new all weather running track we have plans to build a beautiful quiet area of garden as well as essentials like fixing the leaky roof!

Christmas Fair:

The Friends of St Michael’s School are organising a wonderful traditional Christmas Fair at the end of the Festive Fun Run! There will be stalls, games, a bar and food, plus you’ll be able to get all your Christmas shopping done in one fell swoop! Kids can come and wrap their parents a present (helped by a Christmas Elf..) and the school choir will be regaling us with carols.

Can I help?

If you would like to offer to help with marshalling or have anything to offer then please contact the race organiser directly and we’ll welcome you gratefully! Any offers of help or questions to: aldbourne5kfunrun@gmail.com
